WIPA Course Overview: Testing for Coliforms and E.Coli

IDEXX is a registered Course Provider for the Water Industry Professionals Association (WIPA) Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and Registration programme in New Zealand.

Water industry employees who are enrolled in the WIPA CPD programme can earn CPD credits by attending training courses that are listed on the WIPA website. To become a Registered Water Industry Professional, enrolees must gain 30 WIPA CPD course credits within a two-year period.

About the Course

This course provides an overview of the testing methods used for coliform and E.coli detection in water, as well as general microbiology principles to ensure accurate results.

The course is comprised of a series of self-paced modules available through our online learning platform, IDEXX Water Academy.  Each of the following modules must be completed to obtain the relevant Certificates of Completion and satisfy the requirements of the Testing for Coliforms and E.Coli course as listed by WIPA:

• Advantages of Defined Substrate Technology (DST) (45 mins)
• Testing for Coliforms and E. coli (45 mins)
• Reporting Units: MPN or CFU (20 mins)
• Aseptic Technique (15 mins)
• Dilutions (15 mins)
• Interferences and Interpreting Results (15 mins)
• QA/QC Fundamentals (20 mins)
• Proficiency Testing (PT) Essentials (20 mins)
